1998 Ford Ranger Future Project Truck

So I am wanting to ask those who own these types of vehicles, if this is a good year for the ford ranger. I’ve been wanting a truck and I’m not a mechanic just watch a lot of YouTube videos. I currently own a 06 Toyota Corolla, it’s reliable. I’ve replaced the transmission, the axles, the mounts, rear drum brakes, fuel pump, fuel injectors, alternator, and done its regular maintenance. I’m in the process of fixing its air conditioning. I’m not afraid to fix or replace parts. I would like to know what I’m getting into. My goal currently is to save up for a budget of $4,000 to fix or modify not including the price of the vehicle. I’ve seen a couple on Facebook that ranges from 1,000 or less. I’ve been told I’m crazy for wanting to do something like this but I guess now I’m leaving it in your hands to see if I should go for it or not. Any advice or places to get parts would be great!
