On Monday, Michigan Assembly Plant of Ford began producing the eagerly anticipated 2019 Ranger truck, 7 years after it was discontinued for North America. It slated to arrive in showrooms in January. The car-making company stated in a press release that it had spent a sum as huge as $850m to retool the factory in Wayne, Michigan, for the production of Ranger. There are around 3,000 employees in the factory.

The 2019 Ford Ranger was unveiled to the public officially at the Detroit Auto Show this year. It will have a 2.3-liter engine which will be turbocharged and is rated for 310 pound-feet of torque and 270 horsepower and will be backed up and supported by a 10-speed automatic transmission. That will allow the new Ford model to have the best-in-class payload and gasoline tow ratings of 1,860 pounds and 7,500 pounds, respectively. However, GMC Canyon models and diesel-powered Chevy Colorado out-tow the Ford Ranger.

The price of the new Ford Ranger has been set from $25,395 and that includes destination. Options like Sync 3 infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available. Safety technology like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and pre-collision braking have also been made available in addition to a cruise control-like feature known as Trail Control for the FX4Off-Road package.

The Ford assembling factory in the state of Michigan first opened in the year 1957 and at that time it built station wagons. Then it moved on to building the Bronco for 30 years from 1966 through 1996. Then from 1996 till 2008 the plant built and produced the Lincoln Navigator SUVs and the Ford Expedition. In more recent times, the Michigan Assembly Plant has produced the Ford C-Max and the Ford Focus. The plant is all set to build the not-yet-revealed Bronco from the year 2020.
